KBE Manipulator error when creating KBE: Connection Error

03/28/2016 2418 views

I am getting an error when trying to create a KBE for a RSA.  The error is as follows:

Connection Error

An unknown error has occurred when mapping the drive to (Server IP), please check connections manually.  This is usually resolved by logging out or rebooting the machine.

Has anyone seen this before?  If so, what have you done to fix this?

  • What operating system are you trying to create the KBE on also?
  • I am trying to create it on Windows 10. I have a coworker that was able to create a couple KBE's just fine.

Make sure you don't already have a drive mapped to z:. The KBE Manipulator maps the K2000 share on that drive and it will fail if there is already a drive mapped.

  • Thank you so much chucksteel! That was exactly the problem. I will remember not to map the Z drive anymore.
  • Thank you! that was my issue.
  • Thank you, that solved my issue as well!

try doing a net use with your kace admin user and password to see if you can connect to the RSA

  • I'm not having any issues connecting to the server itself. That is the weird thing. I go to it quite often, but I'm wondering what is wrong with the KBE manipulator on my machine.
    • if you already have a connection that can give problems
      • I just tried rebooting, but that didn't want to work
      • Can you do a net use and see what connections show up? Does it show a connection to the K2000 already?
      • No connection.
      • You said you're trying to create the KBE for the RSA or you're trying to create the KBE for the K2000 and then transfer it over to the RSA from the K2000?
    • I have tried both creating a regular KBE that is just going to the K2000, and I am trying to create a KBE that was going to a RSA. Both have failed.
      • Are you and the K2000 on the same subnet? I assume the RSA and your Win 10 system are on a different subnet.
      • They are on a different subnet. I did try uploading a .iso image to the K2000 and it worked just fine.
      • Do you know what version of the KBEM you're using currently?

You could try to manually map with net use \\ikbox\peinst and then try to run KBEM.

Also, do you have the KBEM log from (%temp%\kbem.log) ?
