McAfee virusscan 7.1 MST file

Hello people,

I've got a problem. I want to deploy McAfee virusscan 7.1 enterprise on my Windows XP clients using RIS. I've everything installed with Ris, Office, Adobe Acrobat and some other programms. When I'm deploying McAfee during the RIS installation (Standard, so not confugured) it works great! But, when I modify the Package with Installation Designer of McAfee, the installation designer makes an new package, Nothing wrong with that, but when I'am start de RIS-installation with this new modified package I get an error 'mcupdate.exe can not be found'. I can not resolve this problem. I've tried the modified McAfee installation about 6 times on different ways, but nothing works.

I read on the Internet, you can make an MST file for McAfee togehter with the MSI file. Only I did not found how to make an MST file for McAfee.

Could somebody help me with this problem?!

Maybe you try to use the Custon Installation Wizard from Office XP located in the ORK.

Hi,

I had the same problem. The MSI created by the Installation Designer contains 4 new properties that aren't there in the original package. So I made a transform that removes these four properties. With the newly created transform it installed properly. So far I haven't seen it breaking anything.

You can download the transform at http://www.xs4all.nl/~oldambt7/VS71im.mst . I used Orca from Microsoft to create it. It goes like this:

Start Orca and open the msi created by the Installation Designer.
Locate 'Property' in the left pane and activate it by clicking once.
Scroll down all the way in the right pane. The four properties that are added by the installation designer are: ARPSYSTEMCOMPONENT, ARPNOMODIFY, ARPNOREMOVE and SUPPRESSAMSINSTALL.
Now click 'New Transform' in the 'Transform' menu.
Right click on each of the 4 property table entries, and click 'Drop Row'.
Now save the transform to a MST file by clicking 'Generate Transform...' in the transform menu.

Hope this helps...

Jeroen
