MICROSOFT OFFICE 2010 SP2
hello all-
microsoft just release office 2010 sp2, i dont application setup in subscription, i was just wondering if anyone have previously deployed office service pack using kace and how can i go about doing that. any help would be greatly appreciated

I just downloaded this package and installed it using the /quiet switch will also test /passive as well. The package actually has a very nice list for all the supported switches using the ?
How to deploy this update really depends on what your deployment requirements are? Do you just want to update existing Office 2010 clients with the update or are you looking to slipstream the update into the Office 2010 installer package?
Deploying the update to existing clients could just be done by using K1000 patching or by creating a managed installation. Could then use a smart label to automate this update for all new deployments so SP2 automatically gets installed.
To slip stream the update for future deployments will require extracting the files from the SP using the extract:path command, then run Office2010 installer with the /admin switch to configure your package, and copy the SP2 files in to the updates folder. Then you can deploy the Office 2010 installer package using a managed installation from your Kbox.

For the managed installation I used the configure manually option with the installatoin command: "setup.exe" /adminfile "custom_office_wsp1.msp"
The .msp file is created when you setup the administrative installatoin using /admin.
I have a custom inventory rule setup to to deploy the installer sliently to a new image when it checks in for the first time.

To install the update via a managed task I was going to use the default installation command option with either a /quiet or /passive switch, set it to execute before logon or desktop load, and will probably use a smart label to apply the update to machines as needed. Since it needs a reboot and think Office should be closed when it gets installed (even though it seems to install ok while Word and Excel were running) haven’t really thought out my deployment strategy fully yet so can’t really elaborate much more than that at just yet. - jwilliams 10 years ago

Another way to do this is to download the entire SP then deploy it via K2000.

Dont use the kbox patching option for this!
We tried that here and it caused serious issues for our end users, explorer.exe stopping, office applications closing, machines restarting with no warning.
Using windows update dosnt have this problem (or WSUS).
Will attempt a managed install, but this seems like extra hassle.
