The MS Project with blank screen problem, was solved by adding this the OSD file.

I am having almost the same problem!

I have been sequenced the Project 2007, but when the package start on the client machine the software seems to try to re-install the application!

Guys do you have any guide-line to sequence the Project 2007?

How did you sequence it? Did you run the shortcut after install from outside Sequence and in-side as well before taking final capture? If not try that way and application will know much more about its existance in buble.

Guru. thanks for the tip will give it a try. i only launched the app as part of the sequecing process and didnt do one as you mentioned - before the final capture. will post the outcome.

still no progress. when trying to launch the software as Guru suggested i get message 'problem with shortcut | this action is only vaild for products that are currently installed'. I am able to install project 2007 std manually on the same test machine, this worked perfect.
i have tried re-sequencing it a number of time, trying different paths - still same result. if i use the q drive the above mentioned problems occurs. if i use the default install path (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office) set using the .exe then i get app-v error 00000002 (suggestion by someone in the office) on attempted launch of the software.
a key point here, that i didnt mention above, is that i am trying to install on Win7. i have check appcompat and no issues are identified - plus the manual install works.

I am having precisely the same problem:

Host OS = Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit
Sequencer = App-V 4.6.0.1401
Application = Microsoft Project Standard 2007

hoping someone can suggest a solution, cannot find any reference to this issue anywhere else on the web!

just a note that i have not resolved this yet. will post again if that changes, but suggestions and solutions still very much welcome.

No resolution on my side either.

I have installed the app to the Q:\ drive, launched multiple times during monitoring and during FB1 definition and had no visual issues during sequencing.
I have successfully sequenced Visio Standard 2007 without any issues on this platform.
However when I launch Project, it loads up fine however the gui is a blank screen for the project, I cannot see any of the project views (Gant Chart, Calendar etc)
It lets me switch views but the screen remains blank.
I have run ProcMon.exe inside the bubble but it highlights nothing of any conseqience.
Has anyone come across such an issue previously and what was their solution?

Still nothing for me. Side tracked on another install at the moment. But we have to get this up and running so will post when i have more.

The official Microsoft line on virtualizing Office is: (as of a meeting with them about four weeks ago) "Just don't even try."

Is there a reason it has to be virtualized? You've obviously got SCCM, what's wrong with a generic deploy?

normal tier 2 apps will be generic, but where we can they will virtualised. virtualised will be a much cleaner approach were user based deployment is used over machine - for a specific list of apps - naturally where a license allows for it.

I'm having the same issue here: blank screen instead of gantt chart.

The sequence (made with 4.5) works like a charm using the 4.5 AppV client.
After having updated the client to 4.6 I started having this blank screen issue.
I tried resequencing it with the 4.6 sequencer but the same happens.

Hmm almost sounds like a bad COM registration. Have you tried process explorer to see if Project is having trouble locating a specific DLL?

Just narrow the fillter down to msproject.exe and look for a series of entries where it searches for a DLL but the result field only yelds a series of NOT FOUND results. The reason you'll see multiple entries is because Windows will go through it's search paths for the DLL if it cannot locate it in the initial location it tires.

I've been trying to sequence project for a couple of days now and I've been getting a variation of problems...

I'm about to start from scratch.

Lady-D or Solidec did you follow any particular process when you completed the sequencing?

Here's the Error I get:

The Application Virtualization Client cannot use the OSD file specified because the GUID attribute for the CODEBASE element changed (rc 0C403B04-00001004).

There are a few write ups that tell you really the same thing - worth a read http://blogs.technet.com/b/appv/archive/2008/07/30/softgrid-sequencing-office-professional-2007-in-30-easy-steps.aspx the sequencing process is stright forward nothing to report other than whats listed in the link. at the end of the sequencing is when you add the element to the OSD file. When are you getting the error and how are you deploying?

At the moment i am trying to resolve a problem when opening a .mpp file (i sequenced project pro) outside of the application. it prompts for project server accounts. click either ok or cancel the file still open. when opening the file in the applicaiton there is no prompt. normal install does not produce this result. has anyone had this problem?

Thanks for the info Lady.D. I had the local_interation_policy added. I rolled back my VM and resequenced the app from scracth. Now when I open the app, after it downloads it immediatly shuts down before the app actually opens. Here's what I have in the Log:

I am sequencing project 2010 and have rest of the office 2010 already present on the base build.
I did follow the procedure mentioned above and in the various blogs.

My application is not able to retrieve the product key. when i launch the project 2010 shortcut it aska for product key.
however when i launch the app while sequencing no such message comes up.

kindly suggest where am i missing?

Could you please advise how to disable the auto update check while scripting MS project 2007?

Try running the exe directly if shortcut fails. That happens if any other files are locked and will get installed after reboot (which sequencer does silently without rebooting your machine). Clicking on exe should work and generate enough data for you to capture to make it work from SFT.
