MSI only upgrading if using silent switch

Hello,

I hope you all are doing well.

I have an MSI which is a newer version of an existing MSI. When I run the new MSI using: MSIEXEC /i filename.msi /qb

it detects and uninstalls the previous version in the RemoveExistingProducts action.

If I just double-click the MSI it does not have the same behaviour.

The log shows that FindRelatedProducts finds the older version but for whatever reason it does not uninstall the older version.

Any clues as to why the upgrade is working when running the installer silently and not when using the GUI?

Thanks very much in advance.

do you see any condition in custom action for silent and semi silent install ?

it looks more of conditional build around upgradation.

Generate a log in both scenario and see where they differ . .. You should have something to further look into..
