Need help in creating a .Bat file for installing an application silently?
I have one .exe file of Omnitrend PC software by Pruftechnik for which i need to create a Package. I am an SCCM guy but have never done packaging and starting to learn the packaging, any help would be appreciated.
I need to create a Package for an application for which i need a .bat file and that file should work in such a way that it can cover all the optional steps that I get in between the installation process, Also this package should install silently.
Options I get is
Which application you want to install A or B ?
Secondly it gives optional 6 drivers to install as per the users requirement, I can select any one.
I tried installing it with /s parameter but gave me an error message config.inf file is missing.
I looked for config.inf file, its not given in Source file folder or in Destination folder where the application install. I get only .ini file that too after the installation is completed.
I do not have Install Shield application or any other application like that.
I do not have tool to convert the .exe file into .msi file Package. (Do I really need one?)
Any command lines or guideline would be highly appreciated.
By default you don't need to package to a MSI file.
According to the error message you need to create a config file.
Contact the vendor of the application you want to install to get a documentation how to do this.
If you say which appliacation you want to package users which done it already may be helpful too.
As always, check the documentation that the manufacturer can provide for you through manuals or support. I have used the Universal Silent Switch Finder often to find the command line switches to make silent installs work. https://deployhappiness.com/the-ultimate-exe-silent-switch-finder/ With MSIs inside of EXEs, you have to make sure you have the silent switches in the right order to make sure they get applied to the correct file.
