Software Deployment Question
Random Computers Reboot Approx. 3-5x After Silent Install and Disjoin From Domain and Then Join To A Workgroup
I'm trying to troubleshoot a strange issue. Seemingly random computers will reboot approx. 3-5x after a silent install and ultimately disjoin from the domain and then join to a workgroup. I notice this more frequently when deploying Java versions silently. It happens with all version that I have tried but I routinely use Java 6u26, 6u30, 6u45 and 7u21. The same computer may have the issue one time and not have the issue another time. It happens when using either the default EXE directly from Oracle as well as when I use an edited MSI file created through SuperOrca. I'm not using a transform file which I know is a best practice, but again it happens when not using the MSI as well. Also, i's not isolated to Java, as it has done this with Flash Player, Office, etc. Also, sometimes, a precursor to this problem happening is when the end-user will get an "Interactive Services Detection" window pop-up. UAC is on the default settings as well. I can't find a rhyme or reason to it yet. We're using Altiris Deployment Solution 6.9 (Build 430) SP3 as our deployment solution. All computers are on Windows 7 Enterprise x86. A similar issue was pointed out here: http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/windows-7-randomly-disjoining-domain-dagent
Any help or guidance would be appreciated as this problem is beginning to get a little annoying for our end-users.
