Red K icon in systen tray

I know this means these machines are not connecting.  I need to know how to get them to do so.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled.  Checked the config file.  Checked the .pem file.  All of that checks out, these machines just don't want to connect.  I am on server version 9.0.270, agent version 9.0.168.  TIA

the red K means, that the service is not running.
net start konea should be the first step then.

Check the firewall settings, antivirus whitelists etc.
