Dear All,
I'm trying to repackage (with Wise packege studio 5)some application that require a parallel dongle key, but after I test my package the application doesn't find the dongle. I've tryed also to capture hardware changes but with no result.

if someone could help me it would be fantastic.
thank you!!

If you are using windows 2000 then you may be able to silently deploy the installer for the dongle through group policy to the network. Is it a Rainbow Technologies dongle? You might want to consult with the manufacturer of the dongle. Once you have this worked out then just deploy the software. It is important to keep both of these items seperate.

If the dongle is seen as an addition to hardware then you might be able to use a custom action to install it with its inf and .cat file. You can do this with things like scanners and USB devices.

Hopefully it has one. Start a capture and then stop the install in the middle to find the cat file in the %temp% folder. Grab it and the inf before it installs and use them later in the custom action. I like to deny delete permissions on the temp file during captures so that I can check out what the vendor is actually doing.

If you find those files then install the inf and cat file within the msi and go here for info on creating the custom action.

I tried one with a dongle key and ended up going with a silent setup script (.ISS) instead. YMMV, but it may not be worth the trouble to repackage

Use the sentinel driver as dependency and exclude from your main package componenets relating to rainbow sentinel driver
