I've never used RIPtoMSI but I would convert the rip then look at the MSI. Most conversion tools I have worked with make really odd looking MSIs when then convert them so I tend to not use them and just repackage the software. What you should expect with most conversion tools is that the MSI would not advertise properly because the registry data is usually converted into MSI without any changes and the component structure usually looks like garbage. The tools will make an MSI but you have to decide if the MSI is real of any value.
