Scripting Question

Script message windows

01/24/2020 360 views

I'm creating some scripts and was wondering how to use the "OK" and "Snooze" options in the 'Create Message Window' feature. These are not the ones generated by 'Notify before run'.

When generating a message window in the script like this, the user alert box has OK and Snooze actions, but I can't seem to get them to actually do anything.

My question is, can I assign actions to these options? Or can I hide the options from the alert?

The options work fine in the 'Notify before run' prompt, but not when using the 'Create a message window' function.

Any ideas would be great.

I think this is a case where the functionality that is within the script is not "one size fits all" despite KACE's efforts. So when creating a script and the notifications in almost all cases it makes sens to have an OK/Snooze/Cancel option as the script is designed to do something or deliver something to the endpoint. However when you are using a script to just pop up a message window, there is no point in a snooze function, or cancel as the purpose of the script is just to display a message.

But KACE will not put in the option to just say 'OK' on a script action otherwise you would then be able to force users to run scripts by presenting them only with an OK option to continue!! So rather than telling users not to "run with scissors" KACE has just not given the user any scissors in this instance.

It doesn't change of fix anything but hopefully as an explanation on behalf of my Quest colleagues you can understand the logic of what is there.
