Silent install for Add-in/Extension for Mozilla Firefox

I have tried a couple of different methods of silently installing add-ins or extensions into Firefox. I have tried the following solutions...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We'll just guess what results you got, shall we? Jeez...

  • The results are that they didn't work. No error message no extensions showing. No indication that I had did anything.
...and we're *still* light on information!!

Using the registry route, did you use HKCU or HKLM? If the former, you realise that the deploying user account is probably the local System account and will thus not affect the currently logged-in user? You'll need to use Active Setup to trigger the population of the latter's profile.

Did you restart FF after the deployment? Is the extension listed but just not active?

The folks here are pretty clever but quite light on psychic ability.

HKLM was used since I am trying to put it on all user profiles.

I restarted FF after the registry edit. I am trying to get this to work why editing the registry with an admin account before I move onto the SCCM deployment therefore the system account would not be an issue. The extension is not listed in extensions or add-ins nor does it show up in the toolbar.

Have you used one of these methods and it worked?

No, I've not packaged FF extensions before.

In your situation, I'd be using ProcMon as FF starts to see what exactly it's up  to.

A thought...this wouldn't be 32-bit FF on 64-bit Windows, would it? If it is, your HKLM\Software\[whatever] needs to be HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\[whatever].

  • Already checked there and it did not help matters.

I guess to help matters, Firebug and Firepath are the extensions i am attempting to package.
here is a tool that can help you installing chrome extension silently : www.extuper.com.
Keep in mind that install extensions in silent mode is prohibited unless you want it for personal use
