Simultaneous Multicast sessions?

Greetings,

After reading through the SDA 7.1 documentation and speaking with Quest support, it seems that the SDA is limited to one multicast session at a time per appliance.

With that limitation in mind, could we have some advice on how we could simultaneously deploy multiple images via multicast at a single site? We need to be able to image multiple computer labs at a single site with different images simultaneously. We are presently doing this with Symantec Ghost but are looking to replace it with KACE.

We currently have an SDA and 9 RSAS, each site is configured to access it's local RSA via DHCP 66/67.

Thank you

  • Deploy more than one RSA in each location?

Also be aware of the protocol limitations, you cannot have two multicast transmissions on the same network, or at least not the same type of multicast, the SDA only supports NORM.

Question , is this because you want to multicast different images at the same time? Or is there any other reason? - Channeler 4 years ago

if you look into the Multicast specs you can see that this is not possible.
You can run different multicast installs on different RSA at the same time but not more multicast installs on one RSA or SDA.
