Skype Installation problem
Installing Skype fail..error code 1601
It wont let me install gave me this error code.."Windows installer service could not be accessed. Contact your support personel to verify that the windows installer service is properly registered.

Can you check where it is giving this error in the sequence by generating a log file.

I have removed this link as it is not useful for the packagers and it can be tried only in standalone machines...

Has anyone tried this? 1601 is a Windows Installer error, not unique to Skype and this site is simply saying Error Code 1601 tends to be caused because of corrupt system files within the Windows OS. It offers a "free error code scan" which I would personally be rather suspicious of. - bkelly 11 years ago
