smart labels and manual inventory items

smart labels only apply at check-in. and since manual inventory items never check in, smart labels never get applied. however when testing a smart label, the manual items show up. how can i get smart labels to apply to manual inventory items?

The smart labels are only applied at the check in time and so I do not think that are ways around this behaviour.

The button "test smart label" is only there only to give an idea obout the objects that will have the label applied: a sort of preview.

It is not incredibly handy but you can create a static label then use the smart label menu' to create your query, press the test smart label button and apply manually the static label to the results..

 Something like that.

that's what i figured, it's just the way KACE is designed. in a related issue, we have smart labels to tell us who needs software updates, but those machines don't apply that label when they are out in the field. so we think we are done applying updates, then a machine checks in after a month and needs that update. we would like smart labels to apply based on current KACE knowledge instead of waiting for check-in.

  • Hello,

you may want then to submit your idea to kace.uservoice.com or look there is someone already had a similar idea and vote for it.
