Sophos SWI_Service

We use Sophos in our environment.  One thing I've noticed over the past 6 months is a huge issue with the swi_service (Sophos Web Intelligence).  When Sophos upgrades to the latest version sometimes the swi_service breaks and doesn't work.  It's an issue because then sites are left wide open.  We do some web filtering through Sophos AV.  It uses the swi_service to do this.  Is there a way to check if the service is running and if not, fix it using Sophos' instructions?  Here's Sophos' KB 121905 and instructions on how to fix it..
