Surface Studio - Windows 10 1903 Deployment

Hi All

I am trying to deploy the captured Windows 10 image to our Windows Surface Studio PCs. I am unable to deploy the image and I guess my installation tasks could be messed up. I have attached a screenshot of my task list. Any help would be very helpful.

Where is it breaking at?  does it deploy the wim? does it deploy and just not come out of sysprep?  could you share a few more details.

  • I am not able to see that and the deployment log shows blank for this imaging process... - hillarya@union.edu 4 years ago
    • Ok you may be missing PE driver for the drive, to test that boot into kace and go to recover and open a command window. enter "diskpart" at the prompt and that should go to a shell. in the shell enter "list disk" and see if the internal drive shows.

If that works, while you are in there, open your create uefi task, and manually enter those commands in the diskpart shell to see if they all complete. - SMal.tmcc 4 years ago

Make sure the Image was Sysprepped, un sysprepped image may contain things that could not work fine in a different hardware

Those surfaces are all UEFI, make sure the Boot Mode is UEFI. (look at the KBEs footer, it should say Boot Mode: UEFI).

""Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation"

It sounds like this Image was successfully applied to the hard drive, but Windows has issues loading up, Are you able to deploy this same image successfully to any other device or virtual machine?

If the Image was successfully applied, and Windows as issues loading, the KACE logs will not help at all, you will need to pull the Windows Logs from that hard drive, if you want to know what exactly is going on,

See:

https://support.quest.com/kace-systems-deployment-appliance/kb/121716/

When Windows blows up it writes information into these files about why is not able to load.
