Just testing my 9020 and it works with pe 3 and 5 x86 kbe pxe boot.  Could be extra drivers in the kbe causing the problem.

Copy the directories from \\ikbox\drivers\kbe_windows_x86 to your tech station and delete all the sub dirs from the kbox.

then go to http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/servicetag/2J1Y942/drivers and download the cab file for the

  • This idea fixed it!! thanks!!! I believe the extra drivers were causing the issue, i removed the extra drivers and was able to get it to work, thanks for all the help! WOOT!! - gerroe 9 years ago
    • the video problem was what made me think it was extra "bad" drivers. I have never seen any video problems in the pe mode - SMal.tmcc 9 years ago

Can you give more detail on type of system and NIC?

When you download the drivers needed for your nic copy it to either \\ikbox\drivers\kbe_windows_x64\SomeSubDirectory or \\ikbox\drivers\kbe_windows_x86\SomeSubDirectory.  I create a directory with company name and then create dirs under that for each type of nic (for ex:  \\ikbox\drivers\kbe_windows_x64\tmcc\pro1000x64). Copy all the files not just the cat, inf, & sys.  the din and dll files are also needed a lot of the times.  Once you have the files copied build a new kbe and test it, if it works, set it as default for pxe booting.

  • The model is an optiplex 9020 x86 NIC is not sure. I've moved all the files over into the correlating folder. I am also having this issue with the display drivers when I create a new KBE image. I will try your suggestion in adding the drivers into a sub folder. - gerroe 9 years ago
    • Are the driver problems with the WinPE "KBE" or the OS in the deployed image? - SMal.tmcc 9 years ago
      • WinPe KBE - gerroe 9 years ago
      • Just wanted to be sure. I just received my first 9020 yesterday, still in the box. I have never seen video problems in the KBE winpe env. Are you using pe 3 or 5? I will set it up and see what happens. Will let you know what mine does in about an hour or 2 trying to finish testing my master academic base image for this fall. I can use the 9020 to target cast the image to to see how it does in pe env for me - SMal.tmcc 9 years ago
      • one more question, are you using the internal video or have a graphics card in the 9020? - SMal.tmcc 9 years ago
      • Using internal video, with a deploy image that I am trying to capture. - gerroe 9 years ago
