Testing environment
We have a virtual k1 and k2 and we need a good way to test them with taking them down for extended periods or risking accidental deployments to other systems on the network. My question is this: "Would it be possible to take a snapshot of the systems and load them into a totally offline (4 or 5 port) switched network?" I dont want to infringe on anything or break any copyrights. I am just looking for a safe way to perform testing and configurations. The problem that i have is that the systems are currently in use and used on a fairly regular basis. I was given administration over the systems as and i just finished the jumpstart training videos. I was not with the company when they were purchased and i am struggling to perform tests because of one instance that happened and patches were pushed to every system in the company. It was due to a feature that i was unaware of and had to spend almost 4-1/2 hours rolling back patches on some of the critical systems. Would appreciate all the help I can get.

On the K1 you can enable multiple orgs and put a few machines in a test org. The k1000 lets you export and import most things you create from one org to another so that makes a good test with the real box. That way you are not infringing on the license and all you have to do is replicate the tasks from one org to the other.
Since the k2 is for imaging all you need to do there is create test library objects named with test as the first word and later duplicate those to production items.

i remember seeing something about organizations in the previous versions but i dont see where to enable it. Or do i need to contact Dell in order to get this feature enabled. - maveric20001 9 years ago

just talked to the guy who did this and he did it himself and there was no additional cost.
