Trend micro Deployment Problems with Kace K1000

I am trying to use the Distribution section in my K1000 to push out Trend Micro Office Scan version 10.6.3205.

I can get it to push out just fine and install.  I look at the bottom of the Managed Install page where is shows what machines are to be deployed to and i can see some of them will say installed.  That tells me it got to the machine and installed correctly.  then i check back later and it will say on those same machines that it's uninstalled.  Check back again a little later and now it's installed.  It seems to be deploying the install file even when it says it's already installed and that is uninstalling it.  I thought if the kace saw that the software was installed that it would not try to deploy to it again?  i followed this http://www.itninja.com/software/trendmicro/officescan-client/10-1151  to set it up.

Answer Summary:
Got it figured out. There were 2 software packages for this version of officescan client under kace. One had a company name of Trend Micro Inc. and the other jut Trend Micro. I was using the one with just Trend Micro in the company name to push it out to clients. When they reported in they reported as having the one with a company name of Trend Micro Inc. Since kace saw it as 2 different peices of software it tried pushing mine out again thinking it wasn't installed. It's always the little things like this that get ya. Thanks for the reply though. - See more at: http://www.itninja.com/question/trend-micro-deployment-problems-with-kace-k1000#sthash.Nct9laeA.dpuf

If you did an online update after the install or patch management is running and updated the install  that will create a loop.  The installer will see a defferent version and reinstall that older version again and then it gets updated and the process repeats.

  • I do not have patch management running. The only update this should be pulling is a virus definition file it grabs from the server once it is installed. That does not change the version of the client software though. - Crispyominus 10 years ago
