You can refer to the support page for the getting started videos:

There is a 9 min video on getting it installed and detailing some of the gotchas that may cause issues.
You need to download and install VMware Player first and then Open the OVF from VMware Player.
Unzip the downloaded trial appliance ZIP and then......
From VMware Player:
Click on File > Open
change "files of type" to "Open Virtual Machine Format Images (*.ovf, *.ova)
then select the downloaded Appliance OVF
It will import the OVF and create the Virtual Machine for you.
