Unable to install IE11 via a K2000 scripted installation post install task

Hello,

I am having trouble getting IE11 to install on a new computer via K2000 as a scripted installation post install task.

I have tried the following:

IE11-Windows6.1-x64-en-us.exe /passive /norestart
IE11-Windows6.1-x64-en-us.exe /passive /norestart /update-no
IE11-Windows6.1-x64-en-us.exe /quiet /norestart /update-no
IE11-Windows6.1-x64-en-us.exe /q /norestart /update-no

The first two give me the return code: 40001
The second two give me the return code: 50001

I have been unable to locate a guide for Quest's return codes that includes number ranges has high as the codes I received, so don't know what they represent.

I have tried moving the task to a different position in the task list, but it makes no difference. It was attempting to install before the previous task had completed. That task is a system reboot. In an effort to prevent that, I created a timeout task that runs between the two. That prevented the premature start of the IE11 task, but did not help with the install.

The frustrating part is that it used to work. Earlier this week, I added a task that installs a Cisco Email Encryption plugin much earlier in the list. That is when the failures for IE11 began.  Removing the Cisco task is not an option.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hello,

So about
"I have been unable to locate a guide for Quest's return codes that includes number ranges has high as the codes I received, so don't know what they represent."

You won't find any, all Post Installation tasks are the same as running your script from the Windows Desktop, that is not a KACE Error, those are errors coming from Windows itself.
(this applies to any other software from any other vendor, what you are seeing as errors when using Post Install task, are Windows errors or errors generated by the application you're trying to install not KACE).

So with that being said... Since IE11 is a Microsoft's software, both 50001 and 40001 can be found on a Microsoft's KB about Internet Explorer setup issues, with a text letting you know what that means.
