Uninstall Lightspeed Security Agent v8.02

I've been trying to uninstall the Lightspeed Security Agent using a K1000 script and this has proven unsuccessful.  It is installed on Windows 7, both 32 bit and 64 bit.  I started over and am using just a basic uninstall script and the only switch that I am using is to prompt for a restart, which never prompts.  I have tried the no restart and auto restart options too, with the same result.

I have been able to install and uninstall applications without issue using K1000 scripts but this one isn't working.  It will pop up a screen saying that it is uninstalling and will tell me that it was uninstalled, but the program is still installed and working.  Has anyone else seen this issue?  Any advice?  Thanks a bunch!

  • In case anyone is looking at this and had the same issue, I had to kill Update.exe and SASrv.exe before uninstalling. The Lightspeed Security Agent seems really flaky, but so far I have had luck with killing those two processes. I tried several different combinations and this one has had the best results. - eprunty 10 years ago

Answer Summary:
You will need to stop a service before it can be uninstalled or that it will need administrator rights. The software was uninstalled manually, but this process has worked using the K1000 for other software. Probably an issue with the Lightspeed Security Agent.

Can you uninstall it manually from the command line?  Try that first and see what it requires.

My guess is that you will need to stop a service before it can be uninstalled or that it will need administrator rights.

Keep in mind that unless you specify otherwise, a script will run as LocalSystem.  Here is a way to test if that will work or not:  http://www.kace.com/support/resources/kb/article/how-to-mimic-running-a-script-as-local-system-user-scripting

  • Thanks. It looks like I am going to have to stop a service or two before it will uninstall. I am also going to check out the link to make sure that is all good too. I should be able to get it from here. Thanks for the advice! - eprunty 10 years ago
