VBS to replace a text in a file

10/20/2014 2255 views

I have source which is installed silently and some post configuration is implemented in blank ISM template. Now the new requirement from client is to add a value for a text file which is getting generated during the launch of the shortcut under Installdir Location.

So, my query is, by adding vbs to the post configuration MSI will work or do I have to capture the application and point VBS to the shortcut?

Any suggestions and ideas would be great.

  • Is the value that you want to add different on every machines or is it getting resolved by something? If that is fixed, then why don't you just launch the shortcut and grab the file and put the value there and include it in the package?
  • I need to edit a line in the text file called as "ui.properties" which is getting generated once the shortcut is launched.
  • Below is the requirement from the client ->
The file "ui.properties" which gets installed to location "C:\CostOS Estimating 4" has a property of "lang.flavor=".
The value of this property needs to be set as "lang.flavor=en_UK"
  • Pick up that ui.properties, add the value and include it in your package.
  • yes, great it worked. As that file was generating post launching shortcut, i was afraid to implement this scenario. Well, it worked. Thanks :)
  • Great then! Can you mark this as answered?
