What do I need to know before updating Kace?

Hi, I'm new to Kace and wanted to know if there was anything I should know before I update the Kace agent. Will this effect anyone, should I be taking any precautions?

Before you update the agent you need to be sure that the appliance is on the level you need.

The only exception is, if you have pre 7.0 agents but want to go to 8.0 or later since pre 7.0 agent don't check in anymore.

SInce you asked specifically for the agents:
1. Make sure that the OS on the client is supported.
2. update the agent KBIN under Settings |Provisioning |Agent Update
By default this disables the auto update.
So use a test group if it works well with your environment by adding the machines or a label here before setting the checkbox.

The agents are updated when a machine checks in into the appliance. This runs a kbot 5 0 under Windows and 7 0 under Linux/MAC to do this.
If you have replication shares the agent needs to be replicated to them first (this is an automatic procedure but it needs time)

A GPO is only useful to install a new agent. The auto update should always update the already working agents.
Keep in mind that only devices which check in into the appliance can be updated.
The built in provisioning checks for the agent location so it will not install anything if it finds the agent location already.
