What is the Nt5_PrimeInf CA in ActiveSync 4.1?
Does anyone know what the CA Nt5_PrimeInf does in ActiveSync 4.1? I really don't want to capture the install, and I have the vendor's MSI working with a transform that does the following things:
1). On the Execute Immediate tab, I've commented out the Nt5_PrimeInf CA
2). On the Execute Deferred tab, I've added in a CA to run DPInst in the system context from the C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\Drivers directory.
We're distributing the MSI with ZENWorks, so it's run with elevated, but not administrator rights. With the above changes, it's working great on both Pocket PC 2003 and Windows Mobile 5 devices. However, I'm hesitant to roll this out to the organization without knowing what that custom action is doing. I've extracted the DLL it's calling and opened it in notepad, and saw the following in there:
wceusbsh.inf WceRndis.inf wceusbsh.sys RNDISMPY.sys USB8023Y.sys Rndis_Update.exe Rndis_Update_2k3.exe Rndis_Update_64.exe \SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\WCEUSBSH.SYS \SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\RNDISMPY.SYS \SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\USB8023Y.SYS
Hopefully, this is just installing these drivers, and the CA I added to run DPInst should take care of that.
Any ideas, guys?
