Win 11 Patching

Hi,

I noticed that all of our win11 machines are not being patched even if the win11 is included in the patch subscription.

We have a automated schedule that push all OS critical and important patches.

version of the SMA is 11.0.273

I have minimal knowledge in KACE since i just inherited this task from someone who left the company.

First of all you should go to a supported version (12.1 is the current version, so all 11.x versions are now out of support (or soon will be))
For a quick primer how to patch (and how to check what went wrong) you should review this KKE: https://support.quest.com/kb/313433/

To analyze the issue it is best do do the following:
create a patch task for only one system with W11 and the patches in need.
After it has been finished, review the logs under c:\programdata\quest\kace\user\ for error messages.
if you are stuck, you can open a SR with KACE support but then you should have a supported version installed.

Comments:
  • I tried running a patch schedule with 1 machine targeted and got an error "The schedule could not be run because none of the specified devices were available"
anyways, i might need to update the SMA.

In regards to updating, is it safe to just do the update now button or do the manual way (upload kbin file) - Miko.Agapito 1 year ago
    • both ways are the same.
If you are eligible for updating via "update now" the kbin has been downloaded to your appliance before in the background.
Please also keep in mind, that you update the agents afterwards to the latest version.
If you are unsure just open a ticket and the support engineers can support you. - Nico_K 1 year ago
