Win 7 Pro x64, Dell Optiplex 990, Deployment failed, "device not ready"

We recently received a shipment of some new Dell Optiplex 990 desktop PCs. One of our guys got one built to the default standards that were requested, and we were able to load that image to our K2000. However, when trying to deploy that image to another of the 990, it will process for a bit, but then tells me "Deployment Failed, please see the log for details."

When I look at the log, I see that it keeps stating "The device is not ready." Just wondering if anyone else has any experience with the this message and/or the Optiplex 990 series from dell. Thank you.

I image 990's but I use scripted installs on the K2000 to deploy windows 7, activate, name and join the domain and then allow the K1000 to deploy standard software.

Are you creating partitions? If so do they match your image?

Comments:
  • The image creator blew away all partitions and created just one when he built the initial image. I've got the image deployment set to do the same, and I can see it do that. After that is goes to deploying items. Starts with:

"C:\DELL\Image\Catalog.ini" with an estimated completion time of 17 hours.

After about 20 minutes it will move on to copying actual files, but only for about 10 minutes before it cancels and states deployment failed. - napurnell 12 years ago
  • That's weird.... All machines or just one? Same models? Do other models work? You may need to open up a ticket. Very interesting. Definitely post your answer! - dchristian 12 years ago
