There are a few choices that a google search can reveal, however I can only recommend Windows Deployment Server (WDS) which is built into Win Server 03 and 08, because its free, or Dell KACE appliance K2000, because its awesome.

  • Also, always deploy images with sysprep. - RandomITPro 12 years ago
  • I too used WDS until I bought the K2 appliance. It is a great system for getting started although the K2 is a long term solution. Depends on your budget I guess. - ohiosoundguy 12 years ago

Are you talking mass distro, or just a per user/department method. If just for a per user/department basis, I would pull your favorite imaging program and be sure to use sysprep which is built into Windows 7 under System32 directory.

I would reccomend MDT/WDS for a small solution but SCCM for larger scale deployment.

What exactly are you asking? We use the K2000 to do the deployments using a scripted install.
