You don't mention which version of Winzip, but the KB has entries for msiexec commandline switches here.

There is a link from the above entry, here, that goes into more detail. about switch options.

Hope that helps,

Paul, I think the OP is referring to switches supported by EXEs created by WinZip self-extracting EXE-creation tool.

The only switch I could find information about was '/auto' so you may have to resort to the hacker's route, viz. loading the EXE into a hex editor and looking! :-)

actually i should have been more clear.

I am trying to expand files that was compressed into a winzip exe

i zipped up a folder and i'm trying to deploy it to 9500 desktops prior to the install,

and instead of copying 500 files one by one, i wanted to zip it up and deploy a single
file and expand it on the local machine.

On top of it i didn't want to depend on winzip being installed on the workstation so i made it into winzip self extracting file.

There is the file.exe /auto that makes it expand automatically but i want to hide the screen and see if there is any other options that can help.

I just created a new post looking for some answers to this as well. I had thought about using the self extracting exe's but even though the /auto works as it should, I need it to be silent. Did you come up with anything?

What deployment tool are you using? SMS / SCCM have an option to run programs without user interaction..

Or you could use an MSI to install the files and use the /qn switch for no UI...

Or you could try hstart (google it) never used it myself but sounds like it may do the trick!

Hope it helps,
Rob.

I'm trying to utilize this for installations over vpn so to speed up the installs, its fine with MSI i can easily do that, but i wanted to simplify it for a dummy..

No, i have not found any other switches other than the /auto if you find anything else please post it.
