wise package studio 8.0 error.............

When trying to repackage an application called zylab in Wise Package Studio I get an error at the very end of the Wise says "Unable to copy files to destination media" and it creates a wsi file but no msi file is created when I does compile. I m a newbie to repackaging and I have absolutely no clue as to solve this problem...Thanks for your help in advance

When you create your WSI, it also tries to copy all of the files it discovered to a specific location.  It appears that you don't have permission to the location.  The MSI isn't created because it's unable to compress the files into it.

I would suggest you start learning on AdminStudio from Flexera, which offers a 21-day trial.  Wise is no longer sold, supported or updated.  It also has problems working on 64-bit systems.

You don't specify whether you have configured WPS to save locally to your test machine hard disk, or to a network location such as the Wise SharePoint.  If you are doing a capture then try specifying a local location for the WSI and the associated files on the test machine's hard disk. Ultimately you can move the package to wherever is necessary but make sure you use the "relative" location for the files (realtive to the WSI) rather than an absolute path, as this makes it trivial to move to another location and still allow compilation.

Comments:
  • hi Edt I saved it locally. I did local compile. also when compile is complete in description window i can see message as "Unable to save the Windows Installer File \\xyz\abc\CSI\ediscovery legal processing client\WSI5E43.tmp." Check for enough disk space. though I have more than enough space at that location. - jay25oct 8 years ago
    • Since the windows installer file is being saved to a network location, you are clearly not compiling to the local hard disk. I think you may have misunderstood my reference to local compile as the choice between local and server compile, which is what I did not intend. What I was trying to convey is that you specify all locations for capture and relative file copying to a folder on your machine's hard disk and NOT to a network location. This avoids all the issues with network permissions and with compilation of MSI files that are going to be >2Gb when compiled. (I don't know if this might be an issue with the size of your application). So try specifying entirely local folders on your machine's hard disk for the entire capture and compile process. - EdT 8 years ago
      • that worked. Instead of network location I copied files to local hard disk. and it created msi. But when I am tyring to run this msi it shows error as "Internal Error 2765. File317"..... - jay25oct 8 years ago

Do you not have a copy of MSI.CHM or access to the Internet?
Error 2765 indicates missing content in the AssemblyName table for the file identified in the error message.  This is not specifically a Wise issue, but you may wish to check your Wise configuration as there are settings in the configuration that relate to how assemblies are handled during capture, if I recall correctly. Reading the Wise documentation may help.
