Workstation and servers missing start menu items.

All start menu items, recent programs, etc in the start menu have disappeared. Cannot right click on the task bar, etc. Any thoughts as to what may be the root cause?

I've rebooted my workstation and it was the first to show symptoms. One server is showing the same thing. I fear that if the office turns off their machines, Monday the whole domain will have the same issue.

  • Sounds like you've either got some account permission thing happening, or a GPO that has enforced some restrictions.
    On an affected machine run 'gpresult' to see the Resultant Set of Policies set on the machine to see if you can identify which GPO could be causing this.
