Tested for Windows XP Enterprise deployment:

Step 1 - Record the Installation
C:\"pathtosetup.exe\setup.exe" --record=1

Follow the prompts to the Finish Button.

This creates 2 files in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers
Rename them to:

install.xml
remove.xml

My advice would be to edit the 2 files and arrange them so they are clear in a test editor, as in hit enter everytime you see a </***> tag.

Place these two files in the same dir as setup.exe.

Step 2 - Create the post install suppression file

You might have seen reference to the application.xml.override file in terms of creating suppression of serial, updates, EULA and Registration.

Copy this and call the file, (wait for it...)
application.xml.override

(I've seen much confusion around the interweb about this file. For the record, it does not require an .xml extension, just leave the file names as above with the extension being .override.

Copy this file into the install directory structure -location defined in the <Driver folder="*******"/> tag in the setup.xml file in the "payloads" folder.

Step 3 - Running the Silent Installation from Command Line

Once you have your directory structure containing the files required, just run this command line

C:\>"pathtosetup.exe\setup.exe" --mode=silent --deploymentFile="pathtoinstall.xml\install.xml"

If all is correct - you should get a Exit Code 0

Step 4 - Getting an Exit Code that are not 0

Ignore the Adobe logs and go straight to:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers
Inside there will be a *.gz (gunzip) compressed file.

Install a gunzip compatible application from here:

http://www.7-zip.org/

Open the file in WORDPAD, not notepad as you get a cleaner visual on the data.

The file is a much more useful log to use if you get error codes. At the very bottom of the file you will see the error code and a description as to wtf the error code means.
A quick googly will no doubt shed some light on the problem.

The above should in theory work for all Adobe CS3 applications, as InCopy is stripped from Web Premium CS3.
However don't be surprised if you too need to spend about 8 hours researching to get it to work!!!

Note

Does this work for InCopy CS5 as well? I realise that Adobe has released the AAMEE tool, but with default settings, I'm getting a 1603 error, which even the Adobe guys can't figure out.
