Use the following command line to force an update of VirusScan via command line mcupdate.exe /Update /Quiet

Note that you must use the setup.exe to run this installation silently - not the MSI. If you use the MSI you risk running into the much maligned driver signing message.

after you install the virus scan if you go to "C:\Program Files\Network Associates\VirusScan\RepairCache" you will find the msi that will install it. just copy the msi into the install files and it will run

Its a MSI based package. Mcafee also gives a customizing tool for enterprise deployment called Installation Designer 8.5. You can download it from mcafee.com. Each & every minor setting your can configure before you deploy the application.

Deploying like an adapted list of exclusions after initial rollout in an organisation without ePo server to manage settings is still possible by creating a registryfile and importing it, but if settingsprotection is on you will need to stop/kill the McShield service first.

My method :

- grab yourself the PsTools from (used to be Sysinternals), now microsoft and deploy psexec to the target-machine(s)

then script the following :

<path to>\psexec.exe /AcceptEULA -s %systemroot%\system32\sc.exe STOP MCSHIELD
regedit.exe /s myexclusions.reg
<path to>\psexec.exe /AcceptEULA -s %systemroot%\system32\sc.exe START MCSHIELD

I have used it in combination with Zenworks Configuration Management 10

i deploy psexec.exe to %winsysdir%\system32\

the /acceptEULA switch suppresses the eula popup and continues to execute the rest of the commandline

Crude, but functional.
