OnDemand Software Releases WinINSTALL 8 - Introducing Real Integration of MSI Packaging, Distribution, Inventory, Client Reset & Patch Management

WinINSTALL expands market leadership Providing the First Product to Compare MSI Packaging Data with Real World File-level Inventory Preventing True Desktop Conflict

Bonita Springs, FL, January 7, 2003 - (http://www.ondemandsoftware.com) OnDemand Software, Inc. a leader in desktop availability solutions, today announced the general availability of WinINSTALL 8. New features include advanced hardware and software inventory, a new, single task based console, unified database, advanced MSI packaging features, multicast replication, a patch management system and new levels of notification and reporting.

WinINSTALL 8 introduces new functionality not only for the full WinINSTALL 8 product but also for the widely used WinINSTALL MSI Packager Professional Edition. New features for MSI packaging include conflict assessment checking, MSI validation and automatic repair, discover archived base-lining, a new MSI patch wizard, and several other new performance related MSI packaging features.

Over a Decade of Increasing End User Productivity WinINSTALL has introduced many of the “firsts” in the software distribution market. WinINSTALL developed the first non-scripting approach to packaging in 1994. WinINSTALL was awarded the very first Network Computing Well Connected Award for best software distribution product in 1995.

WinINSTALL developed the first MSI Packager that ships on the Windows 2000 Advanced Server CD. WinINSTALL LE, the first free MSI packager is now used by thousands of administrators worldwide and downloaded over 200 times daily making it the most widely used MSI packager on the market.

“Desktop management products have used the term integration way too loosely for years,” says Jack Palmer, OnDemand Software President & CEO. “Now for the first time packaging data and inventory data can be compared to show exactly what will happen when changes are made to desktops. This goes a long way to eliminating the need to send technicians to desktops to resolve software problems,” adds Palmer.
