AVI files

Please help!!!

I am packaging an application "The Automatic Sprinkler System" and although the package loads correctly, the video tutorials sound comes out degraded to the point that you require headphones to hear.

These files are all in AVI format and play well when they are opened from the CD or if the files are copied to the workstation. It is only after SMS deployment that the sound is low.

I find it hard to believe that the AVIs are the problem. Those are just flat files. Is the program installing a codec?

No, I did think to look and did not see such when I did the package but after another look I do not see anything.

Look for sound related registry entries or drivers included in the package that may interfere.

I am still looking but do not see any as such. Funny thing was when we installed on a machine that had Windows Media Player 11, the sound played perfect. Version 9 was on the machine at first.

You're going to have to dig a little deeper here.

If you install the application manually does it work?

If so, I'd snapshot a VM, do an INCTRL snapshot, install the application manually, snapshot INCTRL again and save the report.
Then I'd roll the VM snapshot back, do an INCTRL snapshot, install the package you made, snapshot INCTRL again, and compare it to the first report line by line.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
