Captivate 3.0 Registering Product

I have a package that works. Captured the first use and created a small install to just place the licensing information on the users machine. My only last little clean up, has anyone figured out a way to perminetly turn off the register product with out user intervention?

Mick

Get a multi-user version without the license manager.
You may be able to use the adobe configuration manager with this product.
On some Adobe products there are properties you can set. Look in the packages database, adobe web site, etc. Good luck.

I am also in need of this Property to disable registration or for the window not to pop up when user launches program. Everything else I have in place. I do not want to add the cache.db file and the other xxxxxx.data file to the mst. for the License, EULA etc.

I've searched so much now, that now everywhere I look I see the words.......Google....registration....captivate....disable......[&:]

Someone started a thread on the Adobe forum, but no answer yet. I also replied to that one, in case someone does know and didnt' post it. Now let's hope that the one described to that topic.

Anyway, if someone knows this property, please............post it........

Thanks so much!

Below answer from Adobe on this matter:

The registration window does not have a property as far as I am aware. Unfortunately, this is all buried within the AMT portion of the install, which the installer cannot directly interact with. This means that I doubt that this is possible.

He did attempt to engage an engineer on the manner but we have no answer so far.

I will follow-up on this matter; however, it seems there is no solution for this case.

I'm sure the adobe_registration.dll is used by a custom action so you need to check which it is and then prevent it from being executed.

Where would I find the "custom action" ?

Install with verbose logging and when you get the error during install do not click any button but open the log-file and see which custom action that was trying to be executed but failed.

When I ran the following command msiexec.exe /i <Adobe Captivate.msi> /qr ALLUSERS=1 AgreeToLicense=Yes SERIALNUMBER=XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX /L*V C:\install.log, I got the Error 2835: The control ErrorIcon was not found dialog SetupError message.

AgreeToLicense is not a public property so you cannot use that at the command line.
So did you look in the log file as you should find the actual error just below the line "The control ErrorIcon was not found dialog SetupError message".

The only line that appears after the error message is Internal Error 2835. ErrorIcon, SetupError. I removed the AgreeToLicense property from the command line statement also.

The error code (Note) 2318 & 1308 indicates that you only removed the actual file but not the table entries that refers to the file.

That seems to have worked. I just removed all instances of the adobe_registration.dll from the Captivate msi. I ran the install and everything worked. Now I have the same problem with the EULA agree !! LOL !! I did the same thing for the EULA pop-up as I did for the registration and I got the same thing. Go figure !!
