Enable Quick Launch (remotely)

I need to enable the Quick Launch feature on the Windows XP taskbar on several hundred workstation and don't feel like doing it manually ;) I've tried to monitor registry changes but I'm coming up empty handed.

Any suggestions?

The QuickLaunch is actually handled by files instead of registry keys.

First of all you need the following folder created:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

Then add any shortcuts (*.lnk files) to this folder and all will be done!

I know that is where they are held but how do you enable it on the taskbar?

IIRC, the whole Taskbar is a binary setting in the registry at:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams\Desktop]
"Taskbar"=hex:.....

So you configure the taskbar the way you want it to look on a test machine, export this key, and deploy it to the machines. It's neither clean nor smart, but I have no other solution at hand.

Agreed Kprinz, its messy but currently the only way.
I have had to do this before.

If it helps you can get the order of icons perfect...lol
