Has anyone else experienced issues with booting into the BIOS with the Kbox 1100?

So here's the deal. Our Dell Kace server "cut out" over the weekend, and we've lost all connection with our Kace server. Rebooting and post process has indicated that our hard drives may well be corrupt. We've been asked to get into the bios/boot menu and boot from a CD we've created (with Dell's assistance) in order to retrieve some logs as to see what happened. However, pressing F12, F10 and so on during the post process results in..."Entering BIOS".... but then it is overridden with "Press Any button to boot into Configuration Utility" and no longer continues to boot into BIOS. The configuration utility is pretty useless at this point and you can do no more than view some basic information.

Can anybody offer any advice on this please? As it stands we have lost all 10 of our ticketing systems for departments, and are having to use e-mails as a way of registering tickets! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recently worked at a site with Dell boxes and accessing the BIOS was a lottery. You have to catch it at *exactly* the right time. Once, I stopped counting at 43 attempts. I got there eventually but not before almost turning the laptop into a very expensive Frisbee.

  • I'd say start tapping F2 or F12 as soon as you see the Dell logo on boot up. - jknox 8 years ago
