If you are trying to script the change, use the attrib command

  • attrib -r -s "c:\path to sofware\*.*" /S /D - SMal.tmcc 8 years ago

Right-click on folder, click on properties, go to the security tab, give the desired account full control.

if you are creating folder through a msi you can give permission directly there

or else you can write vbscript

On Error Resume Next

Dim wshShell,strProgram, strWin,strParam
Set wshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
strProgram = wshShell.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%systemdrive%")
strProgrammes = wshShell.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%ProgramFiles%")

StrProgram = chr(34) & StrProgram & "\Siemens" & chr(34)

strParam = " /t /e /g everyone:F"

strParam1 = " /t /e /g users:F"
StrProgram1 = "cacls " & strProgrammes & strParam

StrProgram2 = "cacls " & strProgrammes & strParam1

wshShell.run StrProgram1
wshShell.run StrProgram2

set wshShell = Nothing

I use either the cacls command or the icacls command.

Use SetACL through custom Action Table with

If you are sure you need to give them full permissions (i.e. allow the user to delete you can change the below change value to full.

SetACL.exe -on "C:\my dir" -ot file -actn ace
           -ace "n:domain1\user1;p:change"
