In KACE how long does it take self service software to install?

I have setup on the K1000 a self service install of software.  How long does it take for the software to install when the user presses the install button?  Does it happen on the next reboot or when the agent checks in?

Thanks!

The install request is queued right away. But in our experience, it can take seconds to minutes for the install to actually start, depending on how busy the KBOX server is, how busy this KBOX client is, and whether the client AMP connection is detected properly.

I've never seen a script or installer start in less than about 20 seconds. It rarely takes more than 10 minutes for the script or installer to start, if the machine is AMP-connected.

Comments:
  • From what I've seen, this delay is the time it takes the installer to get copied to the machine. Are you saying you see delays upwards of 10 min for the file to get copied? - dchristian 12 years ago
  • Yes, I regularly see delays of minutes even with small Kscripts (not MIs, so no significant download). So it's not a file transfer issue--it's a contention or AMP-connection issue. - snissen 12 years ago
