K1000 Windows and Dell updates

Hello,

Have a couple of questions.  We recently configured the K1000 to push out windows updates to servers and workstations.  It's been a bumpy road, but we've made progress.  Many of our windows devices are severely out of date so and it takes KACE 3-4 hours (or more) to complete.  Most of the time (70%) it completes successfully and other times it fails.  When it fails, I usually just relaunch the detect/deploy job and it completes successfully.  Maybe it's hanging up on the number of patches that's causing the issue.  I've seen it install 100+ patches, so it is installing a lot.

Second, just wanted to get a feel for this question.  How many of you are using the K1000 to push out Dell drivers/firmware?  We haven't turned this on yet, but still on the fence due to potential issues this could cause.

Thanks!
Manny

We have been deploying Dell drivers and BIOS updates with the K1000 without any problems for about a year. We aren't doing it campus wide, yet, but several labs have been getting updates. So far I have not had any incidents of machines getting broken due to a driver update.

  • Did you setup your driver/firmware labels? Or are you just pushing everything to the clients/servers? - MannyL 7 years ago
