K2000 - Package Management

I like to routinely export packages on our K2000 on a routine basis and then move them from the share to another location for disaster recovery purposes. The packages eat up about 25GB and so I'm looking to delete them after moving them off the kbox. Simply deleting them from the kbox share seems to confuse the way exported packages are tracked (whether they have been exported or not and if the versions match). Is there a "built-in" way of deleting packages through the Kace interface? Please let me know what you may be doing or if I'm missing something.

There is built in functionality, but I believe just deleting the PKG files and leaving the XML files in the Restore share should retain the export history in the WebUI. Anyway, to turn on automatic wiping of the restore share go to Settings and Maintenance > Package Management tab > Off-board Package Transfer link > click the box to enable off-board package transfer, fill in your target location details, and then click the check box at the bottom to Cleanup Restore.

  • Thx. Knew about the Off-Board Package Transfer but thought there might be a manual way as well. Also tried this in the past and got frustrated with getting it to work but just found the correct combo of host name/IP/share name/user name format the Kbox likes. Thanks again for the input. - jegolf 11 years ago
    • I realize this is an old post, but I've also been frustrated trying to get the right combination that the Kbox likes. Would you mind sharing the format that worked for you? - trugg1818 10 years ago

  • I'm trying to get my packages to offload to a SMB share and when I click "Test" I get:
    tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME

Any guesses what I'm doing wrong?

I tried both dns and IP address for my backup server name. The share isn't on the root, so I specified the following for "path or share name":

    mckfolder\k2000back

I suspect it's something there that I'm doing wrong, but I'm not sure what. I also tried mckfolder/k2000back

    Thank you,

    • I could only get it to work with a share that is on the root... - jegolf 10 years ago
      • Bummer. I opened a ticket with support to see if this could be done in a subfolder. We will see what they say :) - awingren 10 years ago
    • It can only offboard to the share itself

Not a folder within the share

it's easy enough to share out the subfolder if needed - brian_alsobrook 10 years ago
      • This is exactly what I did... - jegolf 10 years ago
