masking the computer name

Hye,

Can any body let me know how to MASK a computer name in a network deployment application while packaging using Installshield Dev Studio?

I am trying to package 'ibm web application server 5.1_network deployment_nt' using snapshot method.
During installation, it captures the computer name and creates components and folders by this name. I tried replacing the computer name with [ComputerName] property. But since '[' is a special character, im not able to include this property in the Directory and Components table.Hence, i cannot install this package on any other machine.

So how to package it so that it could be used on other systems as well?

Thnx
Rashmi

Have you tried using the %ComputerName% variable?

Hi there.

The component name won't matter.

As for the directory name(s), why don't you try setting it to [ComputerName] via custom action? It's worked for me in the past.

I read somewhere ages ago about this and the guys used

[%COMPUTERNAME] to get around it. You can try that.

How to display the computer name before Installinitialize through custom action through "Execute program from destination"
