Removal of ArcGIS 8.3
I would like to get a thread started on the Removal of ArcGIS 8.3 and all the complexities of doing so.
Does, or has, anyone competed a automated uninstall of the following products?
ArcInfo Desktop 8.3
Arc Workstation 8.3
Crystal Reports for ESRI
Arc Developers Kit
After manual uninstall there are thousands of references to DLL's etc.
Is the best solution to reimage the box and install 9 cleanly?
And away..... we go.

Given the list that you give RE-Image will be the option of less headache.
I deal directly with the ESRI installation development team. In having that relationship I know a great deal about how these installations are designed. I would suspect that the greater majority of the remaining orphaned registry are from the Crystal as that is a OEM from what was then Seagate now Business Objects. Their installations are notorious for not un-installing cleanly. Additionally there is the possibility of additional registrations coming from Service Packs, Hot Fixes, added Third party and ESRI extensions and plug-ins.
So, yes I think that Re-Image may be the better choice given the radical difference between 8.x ArcGIS and 9.x ArcGIS.

Yes, this is the information I provided the State SA's I work with.
However, they are not pleased.
I might be able to come up with something for them, depending on how
much effort I want to put into it.
