Repair completes install??????
Hello all,
I have created an msi by setup capturing a vendor setup.exe. I've included the upgrade information for two previous versions of the software that are successfully removed when installing with the new msi.
The new MSI completes.... and reports success in the event viewer and log file. However, the installation doesn't copy files to the machine or create the shortcuts. ODBC settings and service create/start are present and working as expected.
I tried repairing the installation and all of the files/shorcuts were created.....why is this?

Check Where the RemoveExistingProducts action is in the InstallExecuteSequence
If it's right at the end try moving it to just after the InstallValidate action
That way the app your upgrading will be completely removed before your new version is installed
