Systems Management Question

Uploading inventory.xml to K1000 manually

03/04/2014 4417 views

We have an old W2K system running on VM. It has installed 5.3.53177. After applying the recent patches to the K1000 the W2K system still logs on to the K1000 but does not upload any inventory. I found how to create the inventory.xml manually on http://www.kace.com/de/support/resources/kb/solutiondetail?sol=SOL111170, but there's no way to upload the XML file manually to the K1000.  How this can be done?

Thnak you. That's what the KACE EMEA support team recommended me, too. I finally decided that it was breaking a butterfly on a wheel to fumble around with Win Powershell, Perl scripting etc. for a single machine, i.e. it is uneconomic and simply l'art pour l'art. However, I will keep it in mind for possible future use.

Once you have the xml file created you should be able to go to Inventory > Computer and do a choose action > add new item and then at the top browse and upload.

Thanks, but this is only a workaround. I want to do it automatically, e.g. with a scheduled job like the kinventory on the source system. - Regards, Eva

  • To the best of my knowledge that is currently the only way to get that information in the KBOX. Someone might have come up with something, but there isn't anything in ITNINJA about that so they might not be sharing, or there isn't a way.

I see. So I have to ask KACE support. If they have a solution, I will share it here.

To automate the XML upload you can use the WSAPI feature of the K1000.

Through this API you can upload programatically the XML files to the k1000.

I wrote time ago a powershell script to do that: you can find more information here:
