virtualizing office apps

Hello,

Before I spend too much time looking at this is there a general opinion on whether it is worth while (if possible) to distribute Office or more precisely office apps such as project and visio as virtual kontainers?

Appreciate any opinions.

Fin,

We definitely test and make sure Office apps are kontainable. I don't know specfically about Visio and Project, but I will ask.

Fin,

Confirmed that we have tested Visio and it kontains just fine. I would expect Project to work as well.

Thanks Chris,

created a Kontainer for Project 2007 using the creation utility and all works very nicely. I was trying to create a kontainer from a managed install i had already created but was running into problems. The zip file associated to the managed install would open but the setup.exe would not run. The managed install works fine. Using the creation utility was very straight forward. Just out of interest should i be able to create kontainers from existing managed installs with a zip as the associated file.

Thanks again.

Fin,

Support for zip installations will be introduced in v5.1, so while it does not work as expected today it will be here soon! For the most part, using the local Kontainer Creator Utility is my preference as you can launch and customize the application as part of the creation process.
