Vista Key collection from Kbox

Anyone know of a way to collect the MAK, or KMS key from vista and upload it to the Kbox. With XP it is stored in the registy, but with Vista it seems be some some hash value insted of the key. I need to survey who might still looking for a KMS server rather then useing the MAK key.

I have seen some apps the that can decypr and give you the key, but non of them seem very ledgit.

I've run into this issue as well. It was easy to pull the key from the registry and decrypt it in Pre-Vista Windows operating systems. However, I have yet to find a way to pull the license key from a Vista or later Windows OS - the same registry key can be decrypted, but it is an invalid key: BBBBB-BBBBB-BBBBB-BBBBB-BBBBB.

Yeah it was easy for XP, but are problem is some of are computers that got rolled out in other offices are looking for a KMS server that we don't have. This was set to default. (it would be similar just to make one then this but that isnt happening for reason(s))

Now I need to figure out how many of these machines are out there....

I still haven't figured out how to find the full key. However, you can use slmgr.vbs (located in C:\Windows\System32) to find a partial key - it will tell you the last five characters of the product key used to activate the OS. This should allow you to differentiate the machines that used the KMS key.
