Way to find Printer name, IP addr and printer location?
Hi All,
1. What is the way to find Printer name, IP addr and printer location while installing a printer application(.MSI)? (Note:The application has data in registries and files)
2. Can we pass any predefined argument for IP addr in the below mentioned registry key? If so, what's the argument?
“PRINTER IP ADDRESS REG KEYâ€Â
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors\Standard TCP/IP Port\Ports\<PORTNAME>
Value = IP Address
History of the issue:
I'm capturing printer configuration by keeping the driver related files in some location on the system. In the capture, I can see few files and registries as supporting files for the printer to work. Registry keys(Printer IP, Name, location and ComputerName) has been hardcoded irrespective to the system where the application is deployed. But the above mentioned Registry keys highlighted in 'RED' color needs to be fetched and written to the registry dynamically during installtion . Here, I can fetch computername using the MSI property [ComputerName] and written to registry automatically during installation. Likewise , how to fetch printer IP, location and name dynamically?
Thanks in advance,
Senthilkumari S
